Nokia 2.0

You all know, Nokia invented mobile phone… Or, we get that feeling from time to time, seeing Nokia models popup every few weeks. Yes, Nokia is the best selling mobile phone brand in the world today. So they can play with some stuff that is characteristic for other manufactures (like HTC, HP…).
This can be a prologue to a new Nokia style – touchscreen symbian 5800 Xpress music and future model N97. First model, I’ll get this week to test, and I expect that N97 will be mine around end of April or in first weeks of May.
First immpressions about 5800 is that from behind looks like N73, but it has very big screen with good graphic possibility. But, more stuff when I get my hands on it…

So, I’m back with more intel about Nokia Xpress Music 5800 Tube:

Available in blue colour at Telenor Serbia...

• phone is made for younger population, with very good multimedia platform – you can play almost any media format, open virtualy any web page.
• conectivity is great also: from basic GPRS to HSDPA (dual band) and WiFi, of course.
• In the package you’ll get a spare stylis(very rare on the market) + 8 GB microSDHC card. Superb!
• colours are Black, Red, Blue
• camera is mediocore for todays standards- only 3.2 Mpixels but it will do the job
• In Serbia, Tube is avaliable exclusive at Telenor Serbia and price is no more than in rest of the Europe – with 2 year contract it can be yours for 1/3 of its full price.
• For now, application support is too small and young so I will wait for some time to make my final decisio

While we are waiting N97 to show up, I would suggest to look some of the HTC models (you can use “The Stolen Roadmap”) and maybe you can find something for you.

Xperia X1

8 days past, since I got a Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 to do a test. And I have some interesting things to say about it. My feelings are mixed. On one side, we have a stylish phone, running Windows Mobile 6.1 Proffesional with all good and some of its bad things. On other side, I’m not sure that SE had to go on market with it just to make commpetition to Nokia (5800 Xpress music). They could go with cheeper stuff…

First, we’ll go with some unique stuff that came with it:

• slider mechanism is one of the best I have ever seen and used and for that I give SE a credit, but I taken that back because the buttons on keyboard is very anoying and my fingers are in pain (no more long sms for me)
• screen is VGA 480×800 and have a crystal clear picture, ideal for watching movies and with ambient light sensor to automatically change brightness of screen 
• it’s a very heavy device, compare it to its size (something that would be + and – for many users)
• “X-panel” is very good application, even it’s just a desktop changer (it is only way to start radio app) and give to X1 a much needed style
• and slider mechanism is the best! (I know, I said it before)

In package, you’ll get a aGPS, 3.2 Mpixel camera (standard and wide settings for pics and videos), HSDPA/HSUPA, WiFi, BT 2.0… Standard for todays devices on the market. About WM 6.1 I’ll not write anything because I want to make short review. Ok, it is standard Pro version, with no modification (except “X-panel”).

It is a very good device from SE but in my opinion, they got late with it. On same thing I can give and take credit – and we get a little more then mediocore phone (compare it to the ad and other WM phones). On market you can also find Samsung i900 Omnia and new HTC Touch HD (which is far more exclusive for same money). If they give us a X2 soon, they might be on right course (UIQ is dead, so generic OS isn’t something that is appeling anymore).

Time goes by… so quickly!

 

SonyEricsson Xperia X1

My last post was written on my unpaid vacation. Since then, many things happend but my mind was not in the mood for bloging. But I think the time is right for me to back online.

 

My birthday went great, better then I planned (I hadn’t got much time to plan a party). All people that I love to see, came. And we had a great time. This time I got some very interesting birthday gifts – golf club with golf balls and portable golf hole, black wall clock and some meat! ‘Till that day I had my magic 23. So now I’m old, in my calculation.

Now is november. In october everyone at Telenor talked about new contract that we gonna sign in december. Now I know that my future in “the firm” is bright. I had proposal to work on bigger stuff in Telenor Srbija, and I have accepted that call. In the begining, we will see how it’s gonna work, but I’m sure that I will coop with my new coleagues and their working style.

iPAQ 914c Business messenger

 

 

Now some tech news: my new device is iPAQ 914c Business messenger. Brand new, “qwerty” key, HSDPA, aGPS and all other standard things. My SE w950i went to my very pretty girlfriend, as gift that she deserve. As my new position in “the firm” I got to test SonyEricsson Xperia X1. My plan is to test this fancy thing till end of the week and than I will have my opinion about it. If you like to know, my father liked on first sight and he is NOT a tech geek. Many thoughts after some hours of playing…

It was a great thing…

Betwean exams, I’ve had little time to relax and enjoy in summer days. But I have friends that can help me with this problem. Let me tell you the whole story…

It was friday, like every friday in my life – books and study. So, I decide to drink some water and sort

out some films that lays on my hard drive. Than I realise that one movie is very intresting. It was “Dave Chappelle’s Block Party” and my friend v0xel gave it to me. I just had a glance at home and saw enough – it is something that you don’t watch everyday. Music in film inspire me to wear my r’n'b stuff. So I went to my girl and watch whole movie. Great music and performers – Kenya West, The Roots, Erica Badu… So, you must watch it. And then I have a minute of thinking –  was this some kind of message from my friend? Did he wanted to show me how to make block party (as I did in may ‘07.) or to show me that my party was the same thing, but without big stars of music ;0) And that was at friday.

 

Saturday. Day that in my calendar is just day before sunday exam at 8 am. To help me to study, I offten listen music – chill out, ambiental, classical and similar genres. So I play “Aim – Cold water music”, “Christian Prommers – drum lesson vol. 1 2007″, “The Chillout Lounge 2 [2008]” and “VA – Gilles Peterson In The House (2008)”. If you listen just one of these things, you’ll realise how good was that afternoon in Belgrade for 2 young people – me, myself and Tijana. And than, v0xel called me and gave me 2 tickets for “Tuborg Green Beat” music festival at Belgrade’s fortress – Kalemegdan. We went, of course and had a wonderful time. Pic was taken by bartender with some 1.3 MP Nokia, but is valuable memorie. More impressions after the brake!

After hard work… hard work!

After some time, I realised that I could soon finish my studies, and start making more money. Now, I’m on unpayed vacation because I need more time for all exams. My work as operater in Call Center is getting harder as time goes by – same people calling, same questions, same answers! Nothing realy happend! Until I make some difference ;0) Maybe I’ll missing something, but it is natural. When I am back at work, new software will be installed (I went to training for that), maybe some new faces, maybe I’ll be getting fired. Lots of maybes. One is for sure: I have 2 months to finished what I started, to make big step forward in my life an finally get closer to end of my students day. In the meanwhile, look at the picture and try to imagine how will I look when it is all over.

And yes, I will continue to write some philosophical sentimental sh** on my WordPress.com untill I make my own place for the writenings. See you after the brake…

Picture as way to reflect yourself

You probably see every day something that you wanted to share with somebody, to comment, to express yourself in verbal way. But, you looked around you and there was no one that you know. Scene is gone. You are disapointed with your friends and with mankind generally. But, wise people think in that direction, too. So they invented digital camera! But not usual camera. It’s “point & shot” as they call them. And you are saved. “Ok, I got camera, so what now should I do with it?”, you say. If you take my advice (but you don’t have to really), you can practice your eye, talent to capture complex moment in time or something like that. Than, when you are trained “P&S” photocapturer (my joint word), you could sell it and than by some serious equipment, like any Canon dSLR. And when some would go to fishing, you will stock young girls through parks and city streets. Just kidding, do not do that. That is something that is reserved for sick American men in mega cities (like NY).

Light, above everyday problems...

That was introduction for my story: first 24h with new Canon IXUS 860 IS (910 IS in Japan, 870 IS in USA). First of all, it’s great piece for that money. Only 275 euros from my dealer in Belgrade, Serbia. I got spare battery, hard case, 2 GB SD Kingston card, screen protector + regular package. Something you rarely get when you buy some photo equipment. It’s silver, with very big LCD display at the back. More about it you can see and watch on cameralabs.com. On my Flickr.com page you can expect new pics (finaly) using this device. So, pay atention and please comment (offending comment will be erased ;0)

Ringtones in tones

If you are a user of a multimedia mobile phone, then you’re familiar with term “ringtone” and what it mean in your everyday life. If you have “top 10 list” songs on your phone, then you must visit this site to get short versions of your favorite rythm - Audiko.net. It’s free, it grow fast and have very serious stuff. It lays on their reg users that makes that ringtones for us, regular consumers. So, all you have to do is to go to Audiko site, find your favourite tone and enjoy. Is it legal, I don’t know, but I think that creators thought about it in the beging. If not, I’ll use it , while it runs. On the right side of blog, down under rss you’ll find my fav.

But don’t forget, if you like the song, buy original cd and support artists that makes that “good” sound for you.

Gajberless is active!

From today, my home network is active and is wireless! Ok, that is something I planed since I bought my PocketPC, so you can imagine how happy I am. To get you familiar with my achived goals with wifi network, I’ll start with hardware.

First, my home PC – Pentium 4 (nothing special when it compares with today usuall specs); then ADSL+ modem which I got from my “local” net provaider (very cheap, but work like a charm); HP iPAQ for handy access to the network; and last my work-horse – the Toshiba Tecra A9! “But wait, there is more!” And betwen them is “Linksys WRT54GC wireless-G router” as connection link. With all this parts of my home network, now I can test my networking skills in real world. Finally!

If you want some more specs about my home PC, look at your PC that you use for reading this blog and admit that is better then P4! For iPAQ series, look for a info on HP’s site, and for ADSL modem don’t bother to look any info – you are using a much more faster speed then I am.
Now, the first step of make your wireless router to work is – buy it first! My suggestion is not to look to far from Linksys solutions. Why? Because, I bought my w-router and got stuned – everything worked with few clicks on next, yes and finally yes! Without fun, I make it work as I thought and planed. Only setup that I make is about security. I aded some WPA2 phrase and enable MAC filtering to stop roaming intruders.

And that’s it! Very simple, but disapointing for someone who planed to play with settings. But work as it should.

From now on, I don't have to kill somebody to get online...

World is getting smaller

Regarding my last posts about ultra portable notebooks, we can now stop talking about it. Why? Because, when I saw a picture on engadget.com (on picture u can see many small installation of winXP), I felt there is no room for continuing that kind of writening. Like everything in our lives, when something is popular, suddenly everybody knows how to do it.

And for a past few weeks, the race was about “who makes thiner notebook”. AirBook is something for show of, I admit. But, is it useful? Unless you are someone who just do writening and use USB sticks, I think AirBook has a limited circle of fans. So, it’s thin, it’s something that you never seen before, and that is’t. Similar packages from other manufactures just bring crowd to the market of 20 people. Ridicules!

In the meen time, HP is going in “all-in-one” direction with their new toy. It look like it’s main purpose is for home usage because it have a touchscreen so you can use your sticky fingers to pause your movie while you take just one more piece of CFC. So now, we can wait to someone buy it and change it main purpose to something strange – if it works with games, we know who and where is going to try it – Korea!

Mini PCs on the fly…

Maybe you already have one, maybe two, maybe you just want one. Yes, we are talking about notebooks or laptops. As you can read, your writer recently got some piece of hardware (previous post). So, what’s new? Ok, Asus got there first: Asus EEE 701 mini notebook, but there is war going on in that market area. With HP “mini-note 2133″ we got a serious player, but that was just top of an iceberg. Latest, Lenovo “IdeaPad U110″ is something you should consider if you are into buying stuff that you can take instead of your agenda. But, can it substitute? Yes of course. Beside Win Vista with 2 gigs of memory, you have a very good looking device and it is better than most of UMPCs (full small keyboard, but without touchscreen). If you want it, prepare to pay a very high price. For that money, you can buy self a full 15,4″ laptop and little less expensive horse for FM 2008 for your brother (my case). So, it’s up 2 you. I will wait until price goes down and design change. In the meanwhile, my brother will play his games on regular PC.
